Abstract
Rifampicin is an effective drug for the treatment of tuberculosis and is used as a primary anti-tuberculosis drug. Most rifampicin-related adverse drug reactions have been reported to have predictable type-A adverse drug reactions in terms of pharmacological action or dosage, but unexpected type-B adverse drug reactions such as fever without other symptoms, rash and DRESS syndrome have also been reported. The 70-year-old man diagnosed with nontuberculous mycobacterial
lung disease complained of fever after the administration of rifampicin and recovered after discontinuation of the medication. The patient was treated with rifampicin desensitization and remained without fever. Clinicians could consider
treatment with desensitization when fever occurs after administration of rifampicin.
